Barcelona captain Carles Puyol is to leave the Spanish champions at the end of the season.
The 35-year old Catalan has made almost 400 appearances for Barca, the only club he has ever played for.
Explaining his decision at a news conference, he said: "After the last two operations it has been difficult for me to recover the level I need to be able to continue here, more than I expected. That is why I have taken this decision."
During his time at the Nou Camp, the long-time captain has won six La Liga titles, three Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cups, two World Club Cups, and two Spanish Cups.
The man with the distinctive mane of hair also won a European Championships and World Cup with Spain, during a 100 cap international career.
