President of Ireland Michael D Higgins has lavished praised on the Irish Paralympic cyclists after a significant medal haul on Day 7 of the Games.

Katie George Dunleavy and Eve McCrystal won gold in the B Road Time Trial, shortly after Eoghan Clifford had won the C3 Time trial.

Earlier in the day, Colin Lynch had won silver in the C2 Time Trial.

"I want to congratulate our medal winners on a fantastic day for Ireland, with Eoghan Clifford, Colin Lynch, Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal winning medals at the Rio Paralympics," said President Higgins.

"On behalf of the people of Ireland I want to convey my congratulations to Colin Lynch on winning his silver medal in the C2 time trial, to his roommate Eoghan Clifford on winning a second medal in Rio, a richly deserved gold, and to Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal on their Gold medal in the B tandem time trial.

"These athletes have shown what can be accomplished with drive and determination, and their phenomenal performances have inspired the nation."
