Premier League round-up: Chelsea go top of the table

Chelsea have moved to the top of the Premier League table. They have beaten Newcastle 3-0 at Stamford Bridge, thanks to an Eden Hazard hat-trick. 

The Blues move ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal, who both dropped points today. 

City were held to a scoreless draw away to Norwich at Carrow Road.

While Arsenal were thrashed 5-1 by Liverpool earlier in the day's opening Premier League game at Anfield. 

The home side scored 4 times in an unbelievable opening 20 minutes, with Martin Skrtel on the mark twice and Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge also netting. 

Sterling scored again in the second half, while Mikel Arteta got one back for Arsenal from the penalty spot. 

Arsenal have a tough run of fixtures ahead, as they face Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich in their next three games. 

Boss Arsene Wenger is confident his side can bounce back from the defeat today in those games: 

Elsewhere in today's 3pm games, Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic scored to give Hull City a 2-0 win against 10 man Sunderland at the Stadium of Light- Wes Brown was sent off for the home side after 4 minutes. 

Two deadline day signings helped Crystal Palace to a 3-1 win at home to West Brom. 

Tom Ince and Joe Ledley were on the mark there, with Marouane Chamakh also scoring. Bifouma scored for West Brom. 

Southampton and Stoke City drew 2 all at St. Mary's- Rickie Lambert and Steven Davis were on the mark for Southampton, while Peter Odemwingie and Peter Crouch notched for Stoke. 

Kevin Nolan scored twice for West Ham in the second half to give them a 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park. 

Later this evening, Garry Monk takes charge of Swansea for the first time, as they face Cardiff City in the Welsh derby. 

Kick-off this evening at the Liberty Stadium is at 5:30pm.
