Premier League round-up

Manchester United have moved up to sixth in the Premier League table, after a 4-0 win away to Newcastle United.

A brace from Mata, and strikes from Javier Hernandez and Adnan Januzaj sealed the 3 points for United, who were without Wayne Rooney due to a toe injury.

Jason Puncheon scored twice in Crystal Palace's 3-0 win away to Cardiff.

Joe Ledley was also on the mark for the visitors, which eases their relegation worries, but increases Cardiff's.

Fulham have taken a huge step in their bid to avoid relegation, with a 2-1 win away to Aston Villa, which sees them move to within 5 points of safety.

Kieran Richardson and Hugo Rodallega were on the mark for Fulham, with Grant Holt scoring Villa's goal.

West Brom beat Norwich 1-nil away, thanks to a Morgan Amalfitano goal.

Hull beat Swansea 1-nil at the KC Stadium, thanks to a George Boyd goal.

Earlier, Manchester City moved into second place in the table, at least temporarily, after a 4-1 win over Southampton in the opening Barclay's Premier League game of the day.

Yaya Toure Samir Nasri Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic were on the mark to seal the win for City.
