UEFA President Michel Platini is to appeal his 90-day ban from football to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Earlier today, Platini and outgoing FIFA president Sepp Blatter had their attempts to throw out the bans rejected by FIFA's appeals committee.

They were suspended by the ethics committee of the sport's governing body over a payment Blatter made to Platini in 2011.

Plantini is blocked from running in February's elections to replace Blatter, as long as the ban is in effect.

The former France captain's lawyers described the investigation as "uniquely one-sided, unjust and biased" and claimed that FIFA "is also organizing — and is no longer even hiding it — a deliberate and unacceptable strategy of delaying Michel Platini's campaign for the FIFA presidency."
