One of the most controversial Winter Olympics ever closed yesterday afternoon in Sochi, Russia. After 17 days of games, Russia said goodbye to the XXII Winter Olympics with a closing ceremony that was as impressive as the opening ceremony from Feb. 7. And did it all with a surprising sense of humor.

One of the biggest faux pas from the opening ceremony was when one of the five Olympic rings malfunctioned and failed to open. In a parody, during the closing ceremony, dancers portraying the Olympics rings re-enacted the failed, closed ring from the opening ceremony.

The ceremony also featured some incredible light shows, ballerina acts, acrobatics and an amazing fireworks display.

Here are some of the amazing pictures that people tweeted during the ceremony yesterday.
