We saw Ireland's victory unfold before our very eyes, but we have a few images to share which show how Joe Schmidt's side progressed to defeat South Africa on Saturday.

First half analysis

Very little difference between the two teams in score (6-3) or effectiveness

Springboks are dominating possession while Ireland are gaining a lot of their possession deep in their own half.

Ireland are over twice as effective as the Springboks in the attacking third of the field - Boks are wasting opportunities.

Ireland needs to start prioritising territory...

Second half analysis

Ireland manage to play all the second half outside of their own defensive zone

Ireland is incredibly precise with over 73 per cent effective attacks while the Springboks are frustratingly failing with most attacks (40 per cent effective)

Ireland convert this performance into a 23-12 points advantage.

Overall analysis

Ireland achieve overwhelming 59 per cent effective team performance to win comfortably against the Boks 43 per cent.

A significant overall factor in determining the result seems to be the ability to be effective in the middle zone of the field - Ireland were twice as effective as the Springboks in this area throughout the match.
