At the start of last month I was in Italy to attend a league match between Roma and Parma at Roma's Stadio Olimpico.
A beautiful 72,000-seater venue which also happens to be a UEFA elite stadium, Roma have been formulating plans to move out of the Olimpico for quite some time.
Stadiums have been one of the key issues raised when analyzing the decline of Serie A and since the Olimpico contains a running track and is not owned by Roma or city rivals Lazio, it has not been deemed ideal going forward.
Italian clubs will also have noted how Juventus have benefited from their move to the ultra-modern Juventus Arena and today Roma unveiled the design for a new home called Stadio della Roma.
An impressive-looking design with a nod to the Colosseum, the 52,000 arena is set to cost €300 million to build, although no construction timescale has been given...
