While Switzerland is already a blend of German, French and Italian influences, the national team counts players who's players come from a range of countries.
Former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos is of Serbian and Spanish extraction, while his former Gunners team-mate Johan Djourou was born in the Ivory Coast.
National team captain Gokhan Inler (Napoli) and striker Eren Derdiyok are of Turkish descent.
There is also a huge Balkans contingent, particularly from Macedonia and Albania. They include Blerim Dzemaili, Xherdan Shaqiri, Granit Xhaka, Admir Mehmedi and Fulham's Pajtim Kasami.
In addition there is former Manchester City midfielder Gelson Fernandes who was born in Cape Verde.
Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez was born in Zurich but his parents are Swiss and Chilean.
