Manuel Pellegrini insists his Manchester City team have the hunger to beat Roma tonight – and that their last-ditch win over Bayern Munich proves his point.
Victory in Rome tonight should see City through to the last-16 of the Champions League - as long as CSKA Moscow fail to claim three points at group winners Bayern in Munich, a highly unlikely scenario.
And after a stuttering start to the group stage, Pellegrini is sure City’s win at home Bayern proves they have the pedigree to stay in the competition.
“We made a lot of different mistakes in the other games, especially against the Russian team. But we have our chances," he said.
“We demonstrate already when we just played against Bayern Munich that we are fighting to qualify.”
