Ireland's Paul Dunne came agonisingly close to his first win as a professional golfer after losing to Edoardo Molinari in a play-off in Morocco.

Dunne led going into Sunday's final round at the Trophee Hassan II in north Africa before being leapfrogged by the Italian as the day drew to a close.

Molinari posted a five-under final round of 68 to give him a tournament total of nine-under.

Dunne needed a birdie on the par five 18th to force a play-off and he duly obliged by getting to the edge of the final green in two. A tidy up and down saw him sign for a one-under round of 72 to force extra holes.

Ultimately, a wayward tee shot cost the Irishman although he had a putt on the first extra hole which would have seen the pair do it again.

It wasn't all bad news for Dunne as be bagged a career best finish.
