After Manchester United thrashed Swansea City 4-0 on Saturday, Jose Mourinho admitted that to an extent he had "just let the horses run freely".

That victory was the second 4-0 win from two opening Premier League games for United with Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial scoring in consecutive games.

Mourinho is stereotyped as a manager that shuts up shop after taking a 1-0 lead but this season at least, United have gone for the jugular - albeit with the advantage of a stronger team and squad compared to last season.

Ex-Chelsea and Everton winger Pat Nevin joined us on Off The Ball as always on a Monday and he summed up the development at United.

"The way they play, it's a Jose Mourinho team. I think he said he wants to let the horses go in one of his interviews. I'm beginning to wonder if this leopard's changed its spots, you know. Who are you and what you have done with Jose Mourinho with your 1-0s and just accepting it?" he said.

"It's kind of weird to see but you look at what he's got there and what you then do is start deconstructing the goals a little and see where they're coming from.

"And it's that power. It's power and it's direct and it's good play as well. It's not lumping the ball."

He added that much of that impetus is "powered through the centre". As for the missing piece of the jigsaw like another wide attacker or a wing back in the Danny Rose mould, Pat said: "I agree completely if [Mourinho] had flying full backs but he's not one of those managers who wants both full backs to go at the same time. Maybe one at a time. But if he had one that added that little bit more it'd be fine, but I don't see there's any big problem. I think they're a growing team."
