Ulster head coach Mark Anscombe has confirmed that Paddy Jackson will start this Friday's Pro-12 clash against Treviso at Ravenhill.
The 21-year-old will also take over the goal-kicking duties for the game as he gets an early chance to restore his confidence after Sunday's defeat to Scotland. Jackson has faced criticism for his goal kicking in the aftermath of the shock defeat, although many commentators have acknowledged his good work aside from goal kicking.
With doubts still persisting over the fitness of Jonathan Sexton, Jackson will be hoping that he can bounce back from his disappointing Test debut at Murrayfield and put himself in contention to start Ireland's next Six Nations match against France.
Meanwhile, Ulster have also confirmed that Paddy Wallace is facing a long spell on the sidelines after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during last Friday's defeat to Glasgow.
