One of Ireland's World Cup pool D opponents have been dealt another injury blow.

Italy's experienced No 8 Sergio Parisse is a major doubt for after requiring fluid to be drained from a badly-bruised knee.

Now, centre Luca Morisi has been ruled out of the tournament after suffering a torn knee ligament in Saturday's warm-up defeat to Wales.

That game has also cost Welsh pair Leigh Halfpenny and Rhys Webb their involvement in the tournament.

Ireland's penultimate game is against the Azzurri at London's Olympic Stadium on October 4th.
