Armagh All Ireland winner Oisin McConville has announced his retirement from Gaelic football.

The Crossmaglen man - who won the 2002 All Ireland - felt the time was right after his club's All Ireland club semi-final defeat to St Brigid's of Roscommon last week.

The 37-year-old enjoyed great success on the field, winning an All Ireland and seven Ulster titles with Armagh. At club level he also won six All Ireland club titles and 10 Ulster club titles with Crossmaglen.

He also earned two All Stars.

McConville will be on Newstalk Sport later today to explain his decision and reveal his plans for the future.
