Last weekend Munster, Ulster, Connacht and Leinster gave Irish rugby a boost following the harrowing All Blacks defeat by winning their Heineken Cup clashes.

But can they finish off the job in the second half of the double-headers?

The Irish Times' Gerry Thornley and Liam Toland joined Adrian Barry on Off The Ball to predict the results.

Connacht

Can Connacht repeat Sunday's brilliant win over Toulouse when they host the French side this weekend?

Or was that win in France a one-off that is an anomaly when set against their poor Rabo form?

Liam Toland is expecting Toulouse to come out on top:

"Is it a once-off? Of course it is a once-off in a sense because Toulouse are coming to the Sportsground as favourites again this weekend and I think the bookies have an 11 point spread. It wouldn't surprise me if Toulouse beat that spread and that's not me being negative towards Connact. But it's being realistic towards Connacht. But if they were to lose the game, it wouldn't mean last week was a waste. The win should bring a huge amount of positive to the team and credibility to the coaching structures and in reality they're not far off."

Thornley also expects Toulouse to "turn up" this weekend.

Munster

Despite Munster's win over Perpignan at Thomond Park, question marks are still being placed over the province as they grapple between Rob Penney's favoured game-plan and traditional Munster qualities.

"I hope there is a better mix," said Thornley. "They did attack up the middle a bit and mixed it around a fair bit. It was frustrating watching them though. They did lapse into touchline to touchline play in the second half without engaging.

"Too often if you got a repeat angle of a move from behind the goals, you could watch the Perpignan defence drift across the pitch even if they were outnumbered. It was pretty easy for them and I felt a bit sorry for Felix Jones because he kept running into traffic. For Munster to win over there, they will have to go more back to type. They've got to earn the right to go wide."

Thornley is also concerned that Conor Murray's absence through injury will have a detrimental impact on Munster this weekend and he is predicting a bonus point loss for the province.

Ulster

Thornley and Toland both backed Ulster to beat Benetton Treviso, although the former thinks a bonus point win could be difficult.

Leinster

Both Thornley and Toland are expecting Leinster to beat Northampton again when they meet at the Aviva Stadium.

"I can't imagine Northampton turning up as they did at home so it will be a tighter game but I think Leinster should be too strong," said Toland.
