Paul O’Connell sat out training with the Ireland squad today as he recovers from a chest infection, but he is expected to be fit for Saturday’s Six Nations game with Wales a the Aviva. O’Connell was out in the fresh air this morning and is confident he will be playing against Wales.
O’Connell was joined on the sidelines by Rob Kearney, with the Leinster man rested as a precaution against a tight calf picked up during Sunday’s win over Scotland. Kearney is also expected to be fit for Saturday.
Two who will play no part in Saturday’s name are Eoin Redden and Luke Fitzgerald, with both ruled out through injury.
Cian Healy was given a lightened load this morning at Carton House, foregoing the running part of the training session but taking part in the scrummage.
There are no additions to the squad.
