Trainer Aidan O'Brien has praised Circus Maximus and the large team around him after a thrilling win in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Jockey Ryan Moore helped to edge out Frankie Dettori aboard Godolphin’s Terebellum by a head in the first Group One at the Berkshire festival.

O'Brien was hugely impressed by the horse and Moore's ride.

"Delighted, that's him exactly. He's very tough. He travels with a lot of speed," said O'Brien.

"He quickens and then toughs it out. Unbelievable really. Ryan gave him a brilliant ride, so I'm delighted really.

"He's a very good horse. He's a Galileo, he's from a great family.

"Maria and Electra [Niarchos] bred him so he's from a great pedigree. He's a very, very good horse. He's really a trademark Galileo with loads of speed."

This was a second win at the Royal meeting for Circus Maximus, who took the St James’s Palace Stakes 12 months ago.

O'Brien had to watch his latest success remotely but it made the victory no less satisfying for him.

"Absolutely, sure it's very exciting really," added O'Brien.

"Ascot is usually a very busy week for us, we go over and back usually so it's brilliant to be able to see all the preliminaries and everything that everyone has to say.

"It's great for us. There's a lot of stuff that we get to see that, if we were at the races we wouldn't.

"Delighted that we have a great team of people to do everything when we're not there. I couldn't be happier really.

"Pat and the lads bring them to the plane and then Ciaran and the lads fly them over on the plane and then TJ and his people take them over there.

"Great teams of people really and they're all working together.

"We're very lucky to have so many special people."
