The success of this season's Ladies Football final has led to discussions on how to build on the current positivity around the sport.

Sinead O'Carroll, Sarah O'Donovan and Noelle Healy were the guests on Off the Ball for The Saturday Panel and speaking to Nathan Murphy, Healy paid tribute to TG4 for helping to grow interest in women's GAA.

"I think TG4 have been unbelievable for Ladies football," she said, adding: "The exposure they give is phenomenal. People always ask us 'would you not prefer if your matches were on RTE?' but for a while there the only Ladies sport, for GAA anyway, that RTE were showing were the Camogie finals whereas TG4 were always showing every single (match), right down from the qualifiers all the way up.

"They were full set-up, full match analysis - everything all the way up to the final and they started showing the minor final as well which is brilliant. It does, kind of, bring it on that much more so TG4 do have to get an awful lot of plaudits for the role they've played in bringing Ladies Football to where it is."

Sarah O'Donovan agreed with that sentiment and added:"They also look so much more comfortable at it than RTÉ do and I suppose that's what I've learned from the last three or four months with RTÉ because TG4 were doing it for so long, it was very natural.

"I felt the coverage this year was very stilted on RTE. That's probably the only thing that I was disappointed by. I was delighted with the coverage, but I just felt it was very stilted."
