Ireland cricketer Niall O'Brien says this morning's win over West Indies in the ICC World Cup opener was far from a shock for the Irish team.

Phil Simmons' team enjoyed victory by four wickets against one of the traditional giants of the game. 

Speaking to Oisin Langan on the Monday Rewind, O'Brien felt it should not have been seen as a surprise. 

"It's not a shock, from our dressing room. We've gone into the game fully believing and expecting to win the game," he said. 

"I think it was a good decision to bowl first, really. I think we bowled very well to get four or five wickets. I think it was a justified decision to bowl. 300 was well within our grasp."
