New Ireland women’s rugby coach Tom Tierney says the current squad can cope with the recent slew of retirements.

The former Leicester, Connacht, Munster and Ireland scrum-half, who is currently coaching Cork Con, was unveiled as Philip Doyle’s successor over the weekend.

Tierney told Oisin Langan on Monday Rewind that there's plenty of talent to work with and that he can’t wait to get started.

"It’s a great honour for myself personally,” said Tierney. “It’s a huge job with huge pressure and huge expectation.

“Losing quality players is always going to set you back but ... we’ve got a very, very good squad. We’re giving everyone a shot.”
