Athletics' world governing body has lost a major sponsor.

Nestlé has terminated an agreement with the International Association of Athletics Federations, saying it is because of the "negative publicity associated with allegations of corruption and doping" made against the IAAF.

The company had been funding an athletics programme for children, but that will end with immediate effect.

“We have decided to end our partnership with the IAAF Kids program with immediate effect," the company confirmed in a statement.

"This is our decision given the negative public perception regarding corruption allegations and doping in sport against the IAAF. We believe that this could adversely affect our reputation and image and therefore have terminated the existing contract."
