The NBA has decided to suspend the owner of the LA Clippers for life.
Donald Sterling has also been fined $2.5 million after a recording of him making racist remarks emerged into the public domain.
In the leaked tape, a voice purported to be Sterling tells a girlfriend not to bring African-Americans to his games.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver revealed the organisation's decision at a press conference in New York.

Sterling's leaked comments had precipitated an avalanche of criticism. LA Clipper's players had staged their own silent protest on Sunday.
They turned their shirts inside out to hide their logo before an important playoff match.
Numerous companies had also terminated or suspended their sponsorship of the LA Clippers in the wake of the controversy.
Off The Ball will discuss the controversy with Slam magazine editor at large Ryan Jones.
