Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz have now both learned the punishments they will face after the fracas that erupted at their press conference ahead of UFC 202.

After McGregor showed up late to the press conference, Diaz decided to walk out, before a verbal exchange turned ugly and water bottles and cans were thrown as the two fighters and their teams nearly came to blows. 

McGregor was handed a substantial fine and community service for his part in the fight, which he intends to contest in court. The Irishman has also stated that he is not keen on fighting in Las Vegas anymore, and that the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) would struggle to get the money out of him. 

Until this week, Diaz had not learned his sanction from the same body, but they announced on Thursday that the California native would also be fined for his part in the incident.

According to Fox Sports, Diaz's agreement with the NSAC means he will be hit with a similar punishment to the Irishman; 2.5% of his reported purse for the fight.

That amounts to about $50,000 for the Stockton man, which he has agreed to pay, and has also been sentenced to 50 days of community service which he has to complete by December of 2017. 

However, McGregor's fine (which was based on his purse and amounted to $75,000) also included a further $75,000 for a public service announcement, something which was not included in the punishment handed down to Diaz. 

However, Fox report that Diaz has "accepted responsibility for his misconduct and apologised for any wrongdoing during the melee with McGregor," and that the NSAC has approved the agreement unanimously.

Diaz, who announced that he would be taking time away from the sport recently, would need to have paid his fine in full before he can return to fighting.
