Last night on Off The Ball, GAA director general Paraic Duffy joined Colm 'Wooly' Parkinson for an impassioned and wide-ranging debate on some of the issues and challenges facing club players.

Today, former Meath football star Anthony Moyles joined Oisin Langan to talk about some of the points raised and the wider issue, including the power of county boards.

"It kind of amazed me to hear last night that point where [Duffy] kind of said 'we cannot really encroach too much on the individual county boards and it's kind of their responsibility to make it up as they kind of see and they deem it fit for their county'. And therein lies the crux of this problem because you can change all your minor setups, you can change all your U21 county championship setups, you can shorten the season by a month, two weeks, three weeks, three months - whatever you want to do. But as long as an individual county board are making decisions, albeit maybe on a wide remit that the GAA hierarchy might put down, but they're making their own decision, parochial decision, really related to how they see their own championship going. I think that's where the real problems come."
