Celtic hammered Rangers 5-1 in the first Old Firm derby in four years in the league, with hat-trick hero Moussa Dembele starring.

The victory moves the Bhoys four points clear of their fiercest rivals atop of the Scottish Premiership with today's victory maintaining Brendan Rodgers 100% start in the competition.

20-year-old summer signing Dembele opened the scoring for the champions when he rose highest to head home from a corner before clinically dispatching another to double the home side's advantage.

Joe Garner knicked a goal back for Rangers before half-time, but any hopes of a comeback were extinguished after the break.

First, Dembele found Scott Sinclair in space behind a wanting Philippe Senderos before tucking past Wesley Foderingham. Senderos then picked up a second yellow card 15 minutes from time to complete a miserable day for the Swiss international.

Celtic capitalised on their man advantage, with Dembele adding his third following a flowing counter attack, making him the first player in 50 years to score a hat-trick in the league in the Glasgow Derby, before Stuart Armstrong capped off an excellent performance with a fifth.
