Jose Mourinho has not spared his players from criticism in the wake of Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat away to Paris St. Germain in the Champions League quarter final.

Mourinho separately scolded both his defence and his attack after the defeat.

When told Gary Cahill had described one of Paris St. Germain’s goals as ‘sloppy’ Mourinho offered his own more cutting term: “I say it was ridiculous. He says sloppy, I say ridiculous.”

Mourinho claimed it was the nature of the goals his side conceded that upset him, saying that he would understand conceding ‘fantastic’ goals to a side of PSG’s ability, but not the goals his side conceded last night.

“You would expect them to score fantastic goals, you wouldn’t expect them to score the goals they scored,” Mourinho said to Sky Sports.

"We did the most difficult things very well, but we couldn't take half-chances and we made individual defensive mistakes."

"The game was under control at 1-1 but then we scored an own goal and the third goal was a joke.'

Criticism was not restricted to the Chelsea defence however, with the Blues strikers also highlighted as underachieving by their manager.

“We are not a team full of talent to score lots of goals, especially at this level, but you never know," Mourinho said.

"It's difficult for us to score goals, especially in tight games, and when you make defensive mistakes you are in trouble."

Ezequiel Lavezzi gave the home side the perfect start before Eden Hazard equalised from the penalty spot after Oscar was fouled.

But PSG pulled clear during the second-half thanks to an own-goal from David Luiz and a spectacular solo-goal from Javier Pastore in injury-time.

The Blues now need to score at least two unanswered goals at Stamford Bridge if they're to reach the last-four.
