Manchester City's Premier League ambitions have been handed a massive boost after star midfielder Yaya Toure escaped any retrospective punishment from the FA.

The 30-year-old appeared to aim a kick at Norwich striker Ricky Van Wolfswinkel during Saturday's 0 - 0 draw.

But an FA panel reviewed the incident today and failed to reach a unanimous decision as to whether or not it was an act of violent conduct.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who also took yet another swipe at Man City manager Manuel Pellegrini today, was critical of the FA's decision, saying: "If the FA defends football, he would have to be suspended."
