He is also among the contenders for the PFAI Player of the Year prize for 2016.

Horgan, who has scored 10 league goals for Dundalk this season, has already been linked with potential moves to English clubs, with Mick McCarthy's Ipswich Town among the clubs cited.

Damien Duff's former club in Australia, Melbourne City FC, were another club linked with him, although the club later denied this was the case.

But The Star has suggested that Rapids are keen on the player.

The US club is already home to Ireland forward Kevin Doyle and former Boys in Green defender Sean St Ledger.
