One of the most interesting facts about Ireland and Leinster prop Mike Ross is his love of gaming.

Indeed, the 34-year-old once won a video game championship in the UK back in the late 90s and he continues to be an avid gamer to this day.

Off The Ball's Diarmuid 'Gizzy' Lyng caught up with the former Munster and Harlequins man at the launch of EA's Titanfall and reminisced about how he got started.

"I started out playing Quake in 1996/97 on dial-up Internet and met up with some guys who were also starting out in chat rooms and we've just been hanging around with each other ever since. I met a few of them in person once or twice. Actually when I moved over to London, one of the lads was actually a huge Harlequins fan so it was funny how that worked out," said Ross who gave Gizzy the lowdown about Titanfall.

He also explained why he is into first person shooters rather than World of Warcraft and why he prefers multiplayer games over playing on his own.

And Ross did not twiddle his thumbs when it came to questions about this weekend's date with destiny against France in Paris.

While France and their scrum has been under scrutiny, Ross is still wary of writing off their pack and believes it will be a bit of a "banana skin".

"Certainly we're not taking the French lightly. We don't have any right to because we haven't won over there since 2000 and we know from previous experience, often the French don't travel well but at home they're a completely different proposition," said Ross.
