Michael Schumacher has reportedly been seriously injured in a skiing accident in the French Alps.

French media initially reported that Schumacher suffered a serious head injury although the severity of the injury was not yet known. Reports in the past few minutes suggest the injury is not as severe as initially feared.

Schumacher has been taken to hospital in Grenoble.

Schumacher is seven time Formula One world champion and retired from the sport in 2012.
