Ireland's Michael McKillop has won gold in the T37 1,500 metres at the Paralympic Games in Rio.

He won the event in style, finishing in a time of 4:12:11 to claim the fourth Paralympic gold of his career.

The Ballymena native won gold in the T37 1,500 metres in London four years ago, where he also won the 800 metre T37. He was also a gold medal winner in Beijing in the 800.

The middle distance runner was four seconds clear of Canada's Liam Stanley, while Madjid Djemai of Algeria won bronze.

His time was a little way below his world record time of 3:59.54 but more than enough to retain gold.
