All Ireland champions Dublin will be contesting this year's Allianz League semi-finals after squeaking through against Tyrone.

But the campaign was not without its hiccups and as midfielder Michael Darragh Macualey told our own Diarmuid 'Gizzy' Lyng, there is plenty for the Dubs to work on.

"We've had two pitfalls in the league this year and it's all about learning from these things and we're very cognizant of that. Out of these negatives, we have to find the positives and learn from them," said the two-time All Star.

Macauley also heaped praise on Diarmuid Connolly who has been in fine form and scored a blockbuster winning point in Omagh on Sunday.

And there are six or seven players also coming back from injury to boost the ranks for the Championship.

"No team will win an All Ireland with just 25 quality players. You need 30 plus proper quality players to win an All Ireland these days. It's as simple as that because you will have a lot of injuries and setbacks. That's one of the strengths for Dublin going forward because we have had lads that have been willing to make that step up and fill the boots of whoever's missing."

Macualey also touched on the red card handed to team-mate Rory O'Carroll in Tyrone. Although he feels that O'Carroll's dismissal in Tyrone was harsh, he does believe that the Dubs will have to address discipline before the championship season gets underway.

He also spoke about the new black card rule and the impact it has had on games he has been involved in, the challenge posed by league semi-final opponents Cork and his reaction to the retirement of Kildare's Johnny Doyle.
