Former Manchester United first team coach Rene Meulensteen has rejected an approach from Fulham to become Martin Jol's assistant.
The 49-year-old is being linked to a technical director role with the Qatar football association.
The Dutchman has also been linked with the Ireland job.
Meulensteen was a highly respected member of Manchester United's backroom team for his methods, helping to win multiple league titles after joining the Red Devils in 2007.
This summer he left United after Alex Ferguson's retirement and David Moyes appointment and replaced Guus Hiddink as manager at Anzhi Makhachkala but he only last 16 days at an unstable period for the Russian club with the owner slashing costs.
