Lionel Messi has rebuked a Barcelona board member for suggesting that he wants a larger salary.
Recently, speculation has suggested that the Barcelona star is seeking a pay-rise to match the €20 million per year contract which Cristiano Ronaldo was given by Real Madrid.
The suggestion was originally made by Javier Faus who has an economic role on the Barca board.
But Messi, who is recuperating from a thigh injury in Argentina, denied that he wants more money and criticized the board member concerned.
"Mr Faus is a person that doesn't know anything about football and wants to run Barcelona like a business, which it isn't. Barcelona is the best team in the world and deserves to be represented by the best executives."
Graham Hunter, our European football correspondent on Off The Ball, recently hinted that all is not well between Messi and the current board.
