There are people in the Irish Amateur Boxing Association (IABA) that want "to make life difficult for Billy Walsh" according to Dowling. Walsh has seen the high performance unit win seven Olympic medals since taking over the position at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

Walsh "does not pick his own team", Dowling to Jonathan Healy and the two time Olympian says that he hopes the situation can be salvaged with the Rio Olympics less than 12 months away.
