Talks between the Galway County Board, manager Antony Cunningham and the players have failed to resolve the impasse in the county.

In a statement, Tribesmen officials say the issue will be discussed at a County Board meeting next Monday.

Following their All Ireland final defeat Cunningham was ratified by the board to continue in his role in 2016, however the majority of players in the squad objected insisting they could no longer work with their manager.

Cunningham will not be travelling with the team to America, as they face Dublin in an exhibition game in Boston's Fenway Park next weekend.

The board says after the talks there was "little, if no, possibility of the parties reaching common agreement on the substantive issue".

Former Clare and Dublin manager Anthony Daly, along with Cuala manager Mattie Kenny may be seen as contenders to replace Cunningham, should the 50-year-old leave his position.
