Rory McIlroy has extended his lead at the Honda Classic overnight, with another mid 60s round leaving him on 12 under for the tournament and 2 clear of the field. The Co. Down man is now the bookies’ favourite to win his seventh PGA Tour title.
While McIlroy could not quite match the superb performances of the first two days at PGA National he shot a 1 under 69.
Russell Henley is in second, with a 68 – highlight of which was an eagle at the par four 14th – putting him to within 2 shots of the leader. Russel Knox also shot a 68 yesterday and is 3 off the lead.
Brendan De Jonge began yesterday just 1 shot off McIlroy but a round of 76 saw him drop to 8 behind.
