Rory McIlroy has won the Golf Writers' Trophy for the second time in three years.

The World Number 1 claimed The Open and the PGA Championship titles this season, and played a starring role in Europe's Ryder Cup victory at Gleneagles.

He was also victorious at the PGA Championship at Wentworth in 2014.
