After seeing off Brazilian Diego Brandao with relative ease at a raucous O2 Arena on Saturday, Conor McGregor's next fight is on September 27th when he takes on Dustin Poirier at UFC 178 in Vegas.

But what do we know about the American?

At 5 foot 9, the Ju Jitsu brown belt is two inches shorter than McGregor but has a similar height advantage over Brandao, who he beat December.

But according to the UFC, both McGregor and Poirier have the same reach of 185cms.

A part of UFC for a much longer time than the Dubliner, Poirier is ranked sixth in the featherweight division, four places above McGregor as things stand.

A formidable opponent for The Notorious, he has a strong record of 16 wins from 19 and has won his last three fights against Akari Corassani, Brandao and Erik Koch.

Statistically, he has avoided 57 per cent of total strikes and 64 per cent of takedowns according to the UFC, which currently compares unfavorably to McGregor (74 and 100 per cent respectively).
