Graeme McDowell has emerged victorious at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba in Mexico.

The Northern Irish golfer earned his first win on the PGA Tour since 2013 as he saw off Scotland's Russell Knox and America's Jason Bohn in a playoff after all three had finished on 18-under after four rounds.

It makes up for a tough year for the 36-year-old who has failed to notch a Top 10 finish in over a year.

"This is a nice step back towards where I want to be because I want to be back up there and I want to be and I want to win more major championships and I want to win more tournaments. So this is special," he said after securing victory.

His last PGA Tour win had come at the RBC Heritage in April 2013, having won a first major in 2010 at the US Open.

The success is McDowell's first since the 2014 French Open.
