With 2012's The Bourne Legacy seemingly an effort to continue on the Bourne franchise without original star Matt Damon (and even without the Jason Bourne character), it might come as a surprise that Damon looks set to return to the popular series.
The rumour started when Ben Affleck seemingly let slip that his friend Damon would be returning for a fourth appearance as Jason Bourne.
Damon confirmed to E! News that he will once again be playing the spy in a forthcoming sequel, adding "it'll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."
Greengrass was behind the camera for The Bourne Supremacy and Ultimatum, and also collaborated with Damon on Green Zone. While both appeared to have moved on from the Bourne series - which is based on a series of books by Robert Ludlum - there is good reason to hope they will help the series return to former glories.
You should, though, prepare for the surely heavy levels of shaky handheld camera work.
