Former Premier League striker Marcus Bent has admitted to possessing cocaine in front of Guildford Crown Court.

The 37-year-old denied one charge of affray and two charges of possessing bladed articles, in this instance a meat cleaver and a kitchen knife.

The court heard that Bent was tasered by police officers responding to calls of a break-in at his flat, after he rushed out the front door brandishing the blades, a magistrates court heard last month.

Judge Roger Climie decided to adjourn the case until 13 January 2016.

The journeyman striker played 574 games and scored 113 goals for fourteen different clubs, including Everton, Charlton Athletic and Sheffield United.
