It is understood Louis van Gaal has lost his job as Manchester United manager after two seasons in charge.

Shortly after Saturday's FA Cup final win over Crystal Palace, it was reported he would be replaced by Jose Mourinho, and speculation has increased in the interim. 

The club has yet to confirm Van Gaal's departure, but according to Sky Sports, the Dutchman arrived at Old Trafford accompanied by employment lawyer Paul Gilroy QC, who also negotiated the severance package of David Moyes when he left the club.

Van Gaal seemed to be aware that he would not be at the club much longer on the weekend, as he told reporters "it's over" as he left the team hotel on Sunday.
