Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward has left the club's tour of Australia early to carry out urgent transfer business, according to reports.
However it is not been made clear what deal he needs to work on so urgently.
Woodward was not with club officials who were at the State of Origin match at ANZ Stadium, but will instead land in Europe at some point tomorrow.
Today Chelsea confirmed that they had a bid rejected for Wayne Rooney while United missed out on Thiago Alcantara who left Barcelona for Bayern Munich.
The Reds have also been linked with Cesc Fabregas and have had one £25 million bid rejected.
