Reports in today's newspapers suggest that Manchester United are set to make a move for Southampton left-back Luke Shaw.

David Moyes has been looking to recruit a left full-back to replace Patrice Evra since the summer and had two unsuccessful bids for Everton's Leighton Baines in the last transfer window.

Moyes now looks set to abandon his interest in Baines and make a €24 million bid for 18-year-old Shaw instead.

Chelsea are also said to be interested in the defender who is a childhood Blues fan.

Shaw signed a new five-year deal with the Saints during the summer in an apparent bid to ward off interested suitors.

And Southampton midfielder Steven Davis is hopeful Shaw and other young squad members will not be going anywhere.

"He's totally happy here at the club and enjoying the ride that we're on at the moment. I think it's inevitable with the way the lads are playing, that they're going to be linked with big clubs," he admitted.
