Manchester United will face Ajax in the Europa League final after a 2-1 aggregate victory over Celta Vigo.

Having won 1-0 in Spain last Thursday thanks to Marcus Rashford's free kick, a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford this Thursday night saw United squeeze through by a narrow margin.

Marouane Fellaini gave Manchester United the perfect start as he headed in an inch perfect cross to the far post by Rashford after 17 minutes.

But Celta Vigo's Facundo Roncaglia equalised with five minutes to go to set up a nervous finish for the home side.

But just two minutes later, both sides clashed as tempers flared with the incident resulting in Man United defender Eric Bailly and Celta goalscorer Roncaglia were given their marching orders.

And with Celta needing just one more goal to pip United to a place in the final on the away goals rule, they missed a gilt edged chance from close range in the final minute of stoppage time with John Guidetti culpable.

In the other semi final second leg, Ajax lost 3-1 at Lyon but advance to the final 5-4 on aggregate having won last week's first leg 4-1 in Amsterdam.  

Former Ajax and Premier League players Edwin van der Sar and Marc Overmars, who are now Ajax's CEO and director of football respectively, were in celebratory mood:
