Real Madrid and Manchester United have both attempted to divert blame away from themselves in the wake of David de Gea's botched transfer.

Earlier today Madrid released a statement saying that they did "everything possible" to get the deal done before the Spanish transfer deadline, which was midnight last night, but that United only submitted the full documentation until two minutes after the cut-off point.

United sources reiterated to Sky Sports News that they provided all the documents before the deadline, but that Real could not download them because of IT issues and have also accused the Spanish side of not sending the goalkeeper's registration documents to the Spanish league on time.
