Manchester United and Tottenham had to settle for a scoreless draw in the early kick off at White Hart Lane.

Louis van Gaal's side had the better of the first half, but Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris denied Ashley Young, Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao.

Tottenham pressed higher in a more evenly-balanced second half in which Ryan Mason blazed a close range chance over David De Gea's goal after being played through by Harry Kane.

Juan Mata also sent a United chance over the bar after a ball into the box by Rafael.

The result leaves United six points behind second placed Manchester City who play later today.
