Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo says he will be out for "a few months" due to injury.

The Spanish international broke a bone in his foot during a friendly win over Hearts on Friday.

Negredo confirmed the news on his Instagram account, where he posted a picture of himself wearing a protective boot.

Negredo started last season in impressive fashion but tailed off in the second half of the season due to form and injury. He scored 9 league goals in 2013/14.
